Top Research Firm Recognizes Precise for Application Performance Management

While enterprises report that business transactions spend over 60% of their response time in database and storage systems, many IT organizations have failed to focus on the impact of these systems on application Quality of Service. According to Gartner, by 2013, 20% of Global 2000 companies will isolate and monitor storage I/O latency as part of an organized approach to APM, up from less than 5% in 2010.

"If you are experiencing performance problems from your mission-critical applications, implement transaction performance solutions, but not just for the business process (or customer transaction)," said Gartner analyst Will Cappelli in his report, "APM Technologies Must Monitor Storage I/O Latency," September 2010. Once armed with the right diagnosis at the right level of granularity, system and performance architects can either tune accordingly or invest in modernizing their infrastructure to get the performance needed."
